The Amber Route is one of the EuroVelo long-distance cycling routes. When finished, it will connect the Baltic and the Mediterranean Sea. The Slovenian part of the Amber Route starts at the Austrian border, at the Šentilj border crossing. It runs through the Pesnica Valley, Maribor, Hoče, and comes to the Municipality of Rače-Fram at the Rače Gravel Pit. The way ahead leads through some of the most dazzling parts of the route – the Rački Ribniki-Požeg Landscape Park and the Požeg Wet Pond, and ends at the castle in Slovenska Bistrica. The waters in the park, the tranquillity of unspoilt nature, the whispering forest and the bird’s singing create a paradise for nature lovers while also providing a relaxing atmosphere. Way markers can be found along the route.
